We are right on the beach and we can offer you accommodation on 300m2 divided into three floors. Bright and open spaces of the HiTide Hostel will make you feel at home. We want you to enjoy your stay with us and discover the magic of this incredible island.
We have 2 six bed to dorms , 2 private rooms and 12 bed to dorm with beautiful sea view mon areas of the hostel: living room, kitchen, patio, corner 'chill' and our amazing terrace with the sea view.
Everything in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Make new friends, enjoy the sun, go to take a swim, go surfing, sing if you fancy and laugh until you can't any more... are you coming?

Across the city there are over 30 surfable peaks, there are all kinds but certainly the most popular is the area of La Cicer with several very good peaks and sandy bottom. The northern part of the island also has lots of waves. These are mainly reefs and point breaks that works almost 365 days a year. We offer classes for the beginners. Las Canteras beach is one of the best places to learn how to surf. Why? It's a beach break so it is save (no rocks, reef), it is in the city. You can get to the surfing spot putting your wetsuite on (or not;) and get to the waves in no time.

How did you like the accommodation?
The staff was very friendly and welcoming to all guests. The communication before and during my stay was clear and well organized. The rooms including bath rooms, toilets and common area such as kitchen, living room and the terrace have always been very clean. The people staying and working in this hostel are divers, open-minded and respectful. The hosts and its management have done an amazing job to facilitate a warm atmosphere to feel at home. The location of this hostel is unbeatable: Right at the boardwalk of Las Canteras, approx. 20 meters from the beach, 10-15 minutes from the main surf spot, and surrounded by super markets and various restaurants along the boardwalk and even better ones hidden in alleys and the center. Many thanks to all for this amazing experience. I wish to be back again and see you all soon.
How were the surf lessons?
Daniel and Fernando are very knowledgeable and patient surf instructors. I managed to progress more than I could imagine. The reception and surf instructors have always been very helpful and accommodating! Will definitely recommend. The surf beaches were perfect for beginners or experienced beginners :)

If book it you will not regret it. Im not a big fan of hostels but that one is different. Attention which guests gets is just amazing.
Clean, organised and perfect location.

As they say 5 people in the class!! It makes great different cos instructor get better contact with the people in the water.

How did you like the accommodation?
Stayed in a solo room - it was awesome, nice big bed, desk area plenty of storage. Checked out the other rooms too, all amazing, the 12 room has a swing and amazing beach views, really nice layout and great atmosphere in the whole place. The building is great, very clean and welcoming, awesome views from the roof terrace, perfect situation, halfway along the main beach front of Las Palmas, can walk 1 minute to ice cream and the beach and a snorkelling spot. (Snorkel and surf equipment available in the hostel) The surf spot is a 10-15 minute walk along the beach and yoga 10-15 the opposite direction.
The staff were all amazing, manager Francois always around to help and hangout with, great advice on places to eat and joint dinners and parties many nights! Everyone there is always ready to offer excursions and advice on activities to do and you will 100% leave with some new friends.
How were the surf lessons?
The instructors were awesome at Buen surf school, very friendly, chatty and knowledgable. It was a place you wanted to hangout after the lessons just because they were so friendly. We were taught about how to read the waves and the breaks and how to keep safe. On the first day the waves were clean and all of us in the group were standing first time round. After this we mainly rode the white waves and were taught best way to get in, paddling vs walking etc. By the 3/4th lesson they had us turning and jumping on the board to practice balance. The shop had showers and changing facilities, plenty of boards and wetsuits and nice small groups to work in. With a 5 day package you have 5x2 hr lessons and can also then rent a board another 2 hrs for free that day to go out alone and practice some more which I took advantage of as often as my body would allow!

Accommodation was nice comfortable bunk beds friendly staff to greet you a wooden trunk to lock your items away.
Atmosphere at hitide hostel was great you will meet and talk to lots of lovely interesting people. Gran canaria has a lot to offer. Surf beautiful scenery and great food.would definitely go back as it doesn't break the bank either!

We got private room and for that price with the ocaean viewa and beutifull terrace it was just the most pleasant trip we had since a long time. Very nice and tidy.

We got our 5 classes for the first time and we were shocked how difficult it is. Fortunately Xabier our instructor showed us some good tricks how to make it easier. Good fun!!

Loved the lessons, progressed in 5 days a lot, our instructor Kevin was really helpful. Also the school is in 15 minutes walk on the promenade, so you can see what to expect from the ocean today on a different spots
