Mauka Lodge is a place where SUP surfers from around the world can leave their worries behind and come surf some great waves with us! Recuperate, invigorate, learn to ride better.

During your stay we run different SUP Surfing Paddle Clinics focused on the individual analysis of your paddling stroke, the theory behind it, how to use your paddle to make stronger bottom turns and tighter cut-backs.

At Mauka Lodge we provide high performance SUPs and longboards from Sunova. We believe these boards have the best quality, surf-ability and lightest construction on the market today.

At the end of your stay, we’ll give you a copy of all your video footage to take home with you. FREE!

Mauka Lodge is a perfect lodge for couples and families, located only 5 minutes driving from Ericeira village, Europe’s first World Surfing Reserve!

Ericeira’s coastline stretches for 4km and has 7 separate surf spots. Well known breaks such as Ribeira d’Ilhas, Coxos and Foz do Lizandro are only 5 to 7 minutes away by car.

The Place

A typical Portuguese summer house converted into a surf house perfect for families. quite close to nature.

Our lodge sits on more than an acre of natural forest, where the scent of the pine trees and the songs of the local birds allow an effortless connection between your family members and the nature.

The stylish surf-inspired decoration is influenced by our lifestyle as well as our culture, but also hints of our dreams and aspirations.

Music lends a strong influence at Mauka Lodge where you will find guitars, basses, djembes and more… All available to play, or listen to others play.

We have 4 tastefully appointed rooms that can accommodate up to 8 guests.

All the rooms are cozy & comfortable.

Comfortable hammocks and puffs let you read a book, play some music, or just relax with that cold beer or glass of Portuguese wine.

As we love sharing our traditions, we have made available a selection of Portuguese wines from different regions of our country.

Our outdoor area has a BBQ zone, tranquil terrace, seating areas and a fire pit for evening music nights & gatherings.

Surf Lessons we offer:

Beginner Surf Lessons

Mauka Lodge works in a partnership with a local surf school that will pick you up from you accommodation and take you to the beach. Student ratio is 1:6. Our lessons are 2 hours per day and include surfboard and wetsuit. The beginner's lessons are taugh in waist deep water. You will learn everything from standing to turning and finally paddling outside and learning how to catch unbroken waves.

SUP Lessons

You will learn:
Strong & efficient paddle technique.
Tricks & hints to improve the balance and control of your board.
Different ways to turn your board depending on situations and conditions.
Self recovery techniques & rescue options.
How to identify possible hazards and avoid dangerous situations.

  • A small deposit is required to secure your booking.
  • Your balance is due to the property 7 days before arrival. The Property will contact you to collect payment. If you book within this 7 days then the property will contact you shortly after you book to collect the balance.
