I have been coming here for almost 8 years now and every year it’s a party again! The waves are good, the atmosphere is great, and the people are super nice. Love you Oporto Surfcamp! ❤️
My friends and I just came back from Oporto Surf Camp. I have been to surf camps before, but this one is special! The team is really great and they have a passion for what they do! Paula, João and Aaron were always there for us. Paula’s magic push always works so you can easily find the right moment to catch the wave ;) The camp in general is also very nice. It’s clean and comfy, there are skateboards you can use, a small library, hammocks, beach volley and grill area...and of course a loooot of surf equipment. Actually at Oporto there is everything you might need to have an amazing vacation! Thanks for your hospitality and extremely good vibes! We definitely will be back next year! :)
Great surfclasses and lots of fun with the teachers and beautiful surf spots!
We provide Airport Transfers from and to Oporto Francisco Sa Carneiro and they can be booked in the booking steps.

Every time we go on surf holiday after our season, we realize that the waves in the surroundings of Esmoriz are really nice and that we are very blessed with so many great surf spots nearby. The best: there is almost no crowd and if one spot has, then you can always find another good spot without. You can catch as many waves as you want, focus on your surfing and not on others. Very peaceful.
Main Surf Beach: Praia de Esmoriz
Beginner Surf Lessons
Our surf lessons are about 4 hours. The surfboard, wetsuit and transport to the beaches are included. We leave every morning from the surf camp after the breakfast. In the beginner lessons we cover safety, how to asses the right beach for you, paddling and standing up in white water and when the conditions allow it so learn to catch your first green (unbroken waves).
Intermediate Surf Lessons
Our surf lessons are about 4 hours and include surfboard, wetsuit and transport to the best surf spot of the day. Since we know that every intermediate surfer develops on their own speed we try to give the best individual tips as possible to make you improve as much as possible. Some things we cover for sure: Learning to turn, choosing the right waves and priority rules,
Advanced Surf Lessons
Our surf lessons are about 4 hours and include surfboard, wetsuit and transport to the best surf spot of the day. In the advanced lessons you will learn more about reading the surf conditions, duckdiving, improving the paddle to catch the waves better, improving your bottom and top turn, making speed on the wave and some tricks.
Surf Guide
With the surf guiding we will take you to the best surf spot of the day. Tell you about the currents and the rips and inform you about the best tides for the different beaches.
Barrinha
Level: All Levels
At this beach you will find three spots. In the middle of the beach mainly working with high tide and on the left side a nice hollow right hander between low and mid tide. At the left working around mid tide. It´s just a short walk from the surf camp. So get your board and wetsuit and enjoy the waves at our home beach.
Silvalde
Level: Intermediate
When there is a big swell coming from the north west you know for sure that you will catch long right handers here or a softer left on the inside. Can be crowded when it´s good. Not so crowded when it´s a pro size. For the advanced surfers, you will enjoy a lot. There is a bit of localism but if you take it easy for sure you will catch some nice ones.
Maceda, forest beach
Level: All Levels
This beach is perfect, especially when the swell is not too big and start to get flat at other spots. It´s in the middle of a forests, there is a long wild and empty beach. Some different peaks to choose from and works mostly between mid and high tide.
Cortegaça
Level: All Levels
A nice and popular beach also for sunbathing because there is a beach bar on the side. Can work really well with a long right in the back of the pier or a left on the inside. Works mostly with low till mid but with a bigger swell also with hightide.
The best time to surf Porto is between Spring through to Autumn. It's main surf beach is Matosinhos beach, the best surf spot in Porto for beginner and intermediates. Its a long 1km sandy beach with a few different points on it. The set up is a mix of beach break and reef break and parts of it are sheltered so it handles larger swell. Easy to get to and consistent.
Next to Matosinhos is International Beach. A lovely spot that begins where the city park ends. Its also a great learner spot, and a great place to hang out both during day and at night. Further north is Leca, a very consistent beach break protected by the harbour.
In and around the city there are small little beaches all worth exploring, particularly for the more advanced surfers wanting to discover the best Porto surf breaks.
There are more surf breaks further south including Barra do Porto and Miramar and then 20km south of Porto are the towns of Esphino and Esmoriz. Its arguably the North's most famous surf area and the beaches have a real nice surf culture. The area's 3 main beaches are Silvade, beach, Blue beach and Baia beach. A mix of sandy beach breaks and reef spots that suit beginner and advanced. Hang around and score some long barreling right & left handers all to yourself.
